Convention Day 2

Are y'all ready for this update?!! Ready or not, here I go....

Shelli Gardner (Co-Founder & CEO) is entering the world of blogging! Her blog will show a personal side of Shelli that we don't get to see at SU! events and it will also have a creative challenge for her readers and she will choose the winner(s)! Her blog launches Monday, Aug. 4 @ 9a MST.

Shelli also announced that we will soon be able to purchase items from "Shelli's Collection". These are stamps, accessories and other things that she helped design personally. They will debut in the Holiday mini (except for the apron that Demonstrators could purchase here at Convention!).

This November, SU! and Country Living Magazine will once again partner to offer another stamp kit. It will be in the December issue of Country Living Magazine and will be showcased in a 21-page spread. How awesome is that?!

Watch for a great promotion coming in August! A way too cute camping set named "Under the Stars" and some other stamp sets (they wouldn't tell which ones) will be offered at a discount. This set is awesome and we were shown a card that will absolutely have you putting it at the top of your Wish List!

Decor Elements - LOTS going on here and today makes me really upset I forgot the cable to upload pictures from my camera so you can see these samples now instead of waiting until I get home!!

New colors will be available as well as 2-step Decor Elements this fall! What colors you ask? Chocolate Chip, Pixie Pink, Gable Green & So Saffron will be the colors for the Ginormous Flowers Decor Elements.

Chocolate Chip and "...a couple other colors" are the colors for the Nursery Necessities Decor Elements (they're making us wait until fall for "the other colors").

I believe Chills and Thrills only comes in black but I'm not 100% positive. I'll have to ask about this one tomorrow to make sure. I think it does because this is a Halloween Decor Element.

Real Red and Old Olive are the colors for Spotlight on Christmas Decor Element and you're absolutely going to LOVE this one!

Season of Thanks is a beautiful Decor Element and we only saw it in Chocolate Chip so I'll have to check on this one as well to see if it will come in any other color or colors. Stay tuned.

Catalog Observations:

I'm not going to comment on the stamp sets new to the catalog because it would take too much time and there isn't much to say other than I love them! Honestly, I haven't found many that I just do not like!

Since SU! will no longer be sending the Techniques Booklets with every order, there is a technique at the beginning of every section of the catalog. I love this!

Throughout the catalog you will find the usual samples but along with those you will find the items used to create those samples! It's not on every page but for the ones that it is on, it's easier to figure out what to use to recreate the project! The only thing not listed are the colors used!

The new In Colors are beautiful! Pacific Point is dark blue, Baja Breeze is medium-light blue, Kiwi Kiss is green, Riding Hood Red....red, Pink Pirouette....pink and Tangerine Tango is orange. Weird names but beautiful colors! I was able to get some great swap cards with these colors for y'all to see at the New Catalog Open House! :c)

Die Cuts - Blooms Again are die cut card stock flowers in Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa & Kiwi Kiss. $8.95 for 1, 12x12 sheet of each color for a total of more than 120 pieces.

Gift Notes - 10 of each color - Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red and Kraft, $9.95

Textured Love Notes - 10 of each color - Tangerine Tango, Bashful Blue, Old Olive, $12.95

Scallop Notes - 10 of each color - Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze & Chocolate Chip, $11.95.

Carousel Notes - They made it into the "big" catalog from one of the mini catalogs!! 10 of each color - Ruby Red, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, $11.95.

Designer Series Paper - Summer Picnic is the only DSP you've seen before and you're going to absolutely LOVE every package of DSP!! This is the prettiest DSP I've seen yet - I want it all!! $9.95 per package.

Simply Scrappin' - They're all new as well and my mind is spinning! I need to catch up on my scrapbooks and darn if this isn't the best way to do it! $19.95 per package.

Simply Sent Card Elements - These have been moved from the front of the catalog where everyone missed them to the back where they belong! I think you're going to like these! Don't know where to start when you want to make a card? No worries, these kits include the elements you need to embellish and create fun, vibrant cards. Photos and project instructions are included but coordinating stamp sets are sold separately.

Rub-ons - We have 8 new rub-ons and I haven't been able to pick out my favorite one yet!

Chipboard - New chipboard. Including two more types of letters. and a great seasonal one with snowflakes, leaves, etc. An onboard album that is a ring binder 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 size and sheet protectors.

Flower fusion that is chocolate chip, baja breeze and pink pirouette.

New Accents and Elements that are really nice especially a new Christmas one.

How cool is this...a new clip assortment,/designer brads to die for mini library clips and Hodgepodge hardware is back in the stylized silver and VANILLA!

I LOVE the way the ribbon is displayed in the catalog!! Not only can you see what the ribbon looks like but you can see how wide it is too!

Chocolate Chip thick grosgrain is back and brought with it Rose Red, Sage Shadow, Old Olive.

A new double stitched 1 inch ribbon in four colors and a new 5/8 inch striped ribbon..the stripes in the middle with color on each end in the in colors.

A new 1 1/4 inch grosgrain in pink pirouette and a poly twill ribbon 7/8 inch in So Saffron.Taffeta Ribbon adds Riding hood red to the colors.New Designer buttons in an assortment.

NEW PUNCHES!! A scalloped square, a larger 1 3/4 circle, a wide oval, a scallop edge punch.

Curly label punch bundle - No more box on this one.

One new classy brass templates called Floral Frenzy that matches the Easter Blooms set that we got at convention.

Stipple brushes remain despite them saying they were retiring. I don't know what's going on with these so I'll have to ask tomorrow and let you know later. Right now it's bedtime for me!!

I will see you again tomorrow night to post the update for tomorrow!

Convention Day 1

The catalog is beautiful!! The front page is scallop punched down the edge. The beginning of each section shows a different technique. There are 4 new punches that I can't wait to get (a square scallop punch, a big oval punch, a 1 3/4 circle punch & a cool punch that I can't describe!)! The way they have the ribbon displayed is SO much better than what they did in the past! You can see what the ribbon looks like now as well as how big it is. The Designer Paper - Summer Picnic is in the catalog and I have to say that I think all the DSP's are really pretty!! I know there is more to tell you about the catalog but my mind is shutting down so I'll have to make some notes tomorrow to post.

Coming this fall to a computer near you.....ONLINE ORDERING!! Yep, you will be able to browse my website and place an order in your jammies. They didn't give us a hard-date as to when this will be "live" but they did say it will be "this fall"! I can't wait!!

That's pretty much it for today that I can think of. Tomorrow will be lots of stuff to share because that's when we have classes and General Assembly starts so stay tuned! ;c)

Getting to Convention!

I really don't like American Airlines!! Until today I had never flown American and I can tell you that I will NEVER fly them again if I can help it!!!!

We left Atlanta headed to Dallas at 11:35a with relatively no problems - other than they pretty much ignored us when we did the self check-in and we had to wait while they took the bags of people that came up after us! Our flight was delayed a little bit because we were #13 for take-off but they got the planes in the air pretty quickly and the delay was not as long as the pilot said it would be. We make it in to Dallas with no problems. We have a small lay-over so we grab some lunch and then wait...and wait some more. They finally announce that our plan is being worked on and we should be boarding "shortly". We finally board the plane and after everyone has boarded, the pilot announces that Maintenance is going to replace something on the weather radar because whatever they fixed didn't do the trick because it's still not working. We wait. The pilot makes another announcement that the radar is being replaced because the part that was replaced didn't do the trick. We wait some more. The pilot announces that this still doesn't do fix the problem so we're going to deplane and go to another one.

After going from Gate A14 to Gate A32 and waiting for the crew to arrive so that we could board our new plane, they announce that this is a smaller plane and they don't have enough room for everyone and they need 4 people to volunteer to take the 6:15p flight from Dallas to Salt Lake City. I looked over my shoulder to see if anyone was going to take them up on the offer of a $300 travel voucher, a seat on the 6:15p flight and a meal voucher. I swear there were about 6 different people practically breaking their necks to get to the counter to take them up on this offer! LOL! The crew finally arrives and we board the plane to Salt Lake....three HOURS late!

We make it to Salt Lake City with no problems but since we're so late, we can do nothing but pick up the car, check into the hotel, grab something to eat (another story in itself!) then go back to the hotel and go to bed!

I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! The catalog is top on my list of what to see. Memento Mall will be my first stop since they always sell out of the "good" things! I just can't wait to see what SU! has to show us and tell us and I can't wait to tell y'all!! :c)

Inspiration!

It comes at the strangest times sometimes! I was flipping through a magazine (Cottage Living) before I tossed it this morning and an advertisement caught my eye. More like a pillow in this advertisement caught my eye! I immediately ripped the page out and planned to use the colors and design (somewhat) to create a card today! Since it has not yet reached midnight I am still within my "today" deadline! LOL! I will tell you that the scan does NOT do this card justice! I tried to adjust the colors but it just wouldn't cooperate and since I wanted to stay within my "deadline", I gave up! The colors of the card match the pillow in the ad perfectly and without me telling you which pillow I'm talking about, I think you can guess which one it is. ;c)

I'll post the supplies used and then post the pictures of the card as well as the ad I used for inspiration. Oh! Before I forget....I have four more pages that I ripped out of the magazine that I'll be using over the next couple days. I have a date with my sister-in-law, niece, nephew and neighborhood pool tomorrow so I don't think there will be a lot of stamping going on. LOL! Maybe tomorrow evening....before midnight!

{Supplies}
Stamps: Brocade Basics
Cardstock: Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Ribbon

My Inspiration & The Card

The Inspiration

The card (seriously, the colors match the pillow perfectly!!)

So tell me, what do y'all think? Other than my scanner not getting the colors right (and that just bugs me like crazy!). I'll try to get some more posted this evening if my nephew (the wired one) and niece (the laid back one) don't wear me out at the pool. ;c)

Now that it's passed....

I can show you Sydney's birthday card! I didn't want to chance her seeing it before her birthday and ruin the surprise so I didn't post it. I can post it now because we all met for dinner last night and the birthday girl had a good time opening her gifts (lots of Stampin' UP! stuff from Aunt Angie!) plus we got to eat at the new Red Robin at The Avenue Forsyth. Let me just say....YUM!! I have never eaten at a Red Robin before and I don't think this will be the last time we eat there! Good choice Sydney!! :c)

Now, her card has two stamps to it - the "Happy Birthday" on the outside and the sentiment on the inside. The dress is made using three different punches (is this not the cutest thing ever?!)! The skirt is made using the large oval punch, the bodice is made using the small tag punch and the straps are made using the word window punch. Once you put the dress together, simply put a strip of 1/4" grosgrain ribbon at the bottom of the bodice of the dress and add another coordinating ribbon knot or some other embellishment and viola - way cute dress for a way cute girl!!

Need a quick card for a bridal shower? Easy-peasy - change the dress to white and add a flower in the brides wedding colors as the embellishment on the ribbon! Want an elegant card for a dinner party hostess? Change the dress colors to black and white! What could be more elegant that those colors together? Need a fun birthday party invitation? Take that Designer Series Paper (or any background paper from your stash that we all have hoarded!) and punch to your hearts content! Are you getting the idea that this dress is not only easy to create but can be used for SO many different occasions? Good! That's what I was trying to get across! LOL!

Matching Box & Card Class

I will be having a class this Saturday (the 12th) and this one is just too cute!! I'll post a sample tomorrow (gotta finish vacation laundry so I can finish it tonight) so you can see what the class is all about. You'll create a cardstock box and 8 cards (4 designs, 2 of each design) for $20. All supplies except adhesive is supplied and the class will be held at my house from 2-5p. RSVP by Friday (the 11th). I think you'll really enjoy this class - way cute!

Don't forget the accessories!!!

Don't wait until the list of retiring accessories comes out on the 17th to see what you just "have" to have - get those accessories now! Do you have the In-Color ink Pads but not the re-inkers? You need to order those re-inkers NOW! Why? Because the accessories are "while supplies last" items and those supplies are limited! If you've been looking at an accessory thinking, "I'll order that later." Later is now! I'll be placing an order this Thursday (July 10th) so if you need anything send me an e-mail or give me a call and I'll add your items to the order to cut costs on shipping. :c)

My Star Stamper!

I would like to introduce you to my "Star Stamper"....my (soon-to-be) 8 year old niece Sydney! Sydney needed to stamp a "Thank You" card for a friend that had given her some grips. Sydney and Morgan are both gymnasts (for those of you present at the April Stamp-A-Stack....this is the Sydney!) and grips help with some of the different apparatus. Not only is Sydney my "Star Stamper" but she's also ranked 1st on Floor & Beam, 17th on Bars and 10th Overall in the state of Georgia in her age division (no, I'm not a proud aunt at all & I didn't announce that to every single Yahoo! group I belong to or tell everyone I know.....nooooo, not me! LOL!)!! So much talent in such a tiny little body!!

Let me tell you, when I say that Sydney stamped this card, I mean Sydney stamped this card! She picked the colors, she picked the stamp set, she picked everything! She even learned how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig! All I did was show her how to use it and if she had a question about positioning, I gave my opinion and away she went! I think I have a future team member in the making here ladies! LOL! Check out her card below....

Outside

This is the outside of Sydney's card. Notice how the monkey hanging from the vine is giving the monkey on the ground Morgan's name? How cute is that?!

Sydney also used punches to connect the two vines together - even though she stamped them perfectly, she thought they looked better with the punched flowers and I have to agree - too cute!

Inside of card

Don't stop with the outside - carry the design to the inside of your card too! Notice how Sydney stamped the vines across the top of the card (and they meet where they're supposed to - without the Stamp-a-ma-jig!). She has the same hanging monkey from the front delivering a different message to the monkey on the ground with different punched flowers on the vines and in the bottom corner. Not only did she use the Stamp-a-ma-jig for the hanging monkey but since the little guy on the ground was so close to the fold, she decided that it might be a good idea to use it for him as well (told y'all she was a smart stamper!).

Back of card

All stampers know that you have to sign your work! Not only do you sign it but you date it so that years from now when you're a Georgia "Gym Dawg" everyone that has ever received a card from you can pull it out, jump up and down while screaming in that annoying high-pitched voice, "I know her!! Look, she made me a card in 2008 when we were 7 years old and I gave her some grips! AAAAAHHHHH! GO SYDNEY!!!!"!
I told y'all I'm not a proud Aunt Angie! ;c)
I love you Sydney - You will ALWAYS be my "Star Stamper" and FAVORITE gymnast EVER!! :cD

Happy 4th!

I hope you all have a happy and SAFE 4th of July!! Be sure to take time out during your day to remember those serving in the military both here and abroad that are watching over us and our country. :c)

It's a Boy!

This is the card for my high school friend that had a boy.
This is Nancy's "brag book". I missed the announcement when it was originally in the paper and I knew that the baby should be making his debut soon so I did a search on our local paper and there it was. Her little guy shares his big day with our youngest daughter (she turned 15 on April 19th!) so I think it's a pretty darn great day to be born! :c)

{Supplies}
Stamps: Greetings Galore
Paper: So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Mellow Moss, Whisper White
Ink: StazOn Black, Watercolor Crayons
Accessories: Blue ribbon, Aqua painters

Wednesday Wow!

I have a tip for you and it's going to make some of you say, "Wow! I didn't know that!" If you put your adhesive in the wrong spot (say you need to put it on half of a circle and you put it on the wrong half), don't waste that cardstock! All you have to do is pull out a small paintbrush and some baby powder! Yes, you read that right - a small paintbrush and some baby powder. Just dip your paintbrush lightly in the baby powder and "paint" the powder over the wayward adhesive. Wipe away any excess powder with a tissue and you're ready to put adhesive where you meant to put it to begin with. :c)

This tip also works if you're trying to use up all those stickers you have in your cabinets too! Obviously you don't want to do it when you want to adhere a sticker directly to a card or scrapbook page but if you want that sticker to pop out with a Stampin' Dimensional, this is your best friend! Just put a Stampin' Dimensional or two on your sticker and then brush the powder all over the sticker. Be sure you don't get the powder on any surface that you actually want to stick!

Click on the title above for detailed information, but the gist is this.....From July 1st thru August 10th three different finishes are being offered at a 25% discount! These are being retired so hurry before it's too late! They are only available while supplies last so if you want to place an order contact me ASAP!

All New Stamp Sets Are Die Cut!

The following announcement is copied directly from the demo side of the Stampin' Up! website! I couldn't wait to post this when I read it this morning!!!!!! :c)

We're excited to announce that all new stamp sets in the Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book & Catalog (including new hostess sets) will be die cut for your convenience! We know you enjoy the flexibility of custom mounting your stamps, and with these die-cut sets, all you'll need to do is pop, peel, and place before you begin stamping.

Only our new stamps will be die cut; sets carried over from the last catalog and those on the dormant list will still require trimming. But, each new set will feature a die cut icon so you and your customers will have no problems identifying die-cut sets.

It's "Baby Season"

My hair dresser and our next-door-neighbor just had baby girls. A friend of mine is pregnant with a baby girl. A friend that I graduated high school with had a boy. Another friend just found out she's pregnant.....I'm not drinking anything other than bottled water or alcohol! LOL!! Seriously, I love "baby season" and all things baby! The following three items were added to the personal touches of the baby gifts for my hair dresser & next-door-neighbor...
This is the card for the gift.
Mom's brag book. This is a brag book that I created with clear envelopes!
I love this little guy! This is dad's "brag book". I wanted to give the new dad something that he could take pictures to work and show pictures of his new princess off without looking too "girly". The "belly band" with the bunny slides off and the photo wallet folds down so that 3 "pages" fold out. With those, you can either put 3 pictures and journal on half the page or put 6 pictures....perfect for a new father!
